Zero tillage is a resource saving aspect of conservation agriculture, aims to achieve fair benefit along with high and sustained production levels while simultaneously preserving the environment. The burning of crop residues leads to the release of toxic air pollutants, which can have a significant effect on human health. The processing and transport of sufficient crop residue mass is tedious, so the management of ex-situ residues is not yet an economically viable choice. Zero tillage is a requirement to be used for surplus residue. There is an urge to raise awareness among farming communities to understand the significance of zero tillage for crop residues to Indian agriculture’s sustainability and resilience.
